Some strains of the human papillomavirus virus (HPV) can trigger changes to the cells in your body. Such changes can result in mutatations that can develop into cancer.

What is even more troubling: HPV is a commonly contracted sexually transmitted virus that will infect approximately 80 percent of Americans.

Ergo, the medical community is warning men and women to protect themselves from sexual behaviours that can trigger HPV-related cancers. The medical community cautions that if you are 60 years of age or older, and sexually active, you may be particularly susceptible.
